This game reminds me a lot of Left 4 dead and Vermintide only with a lot more confusion and mayhem. There doesn’t seem to be much plot with multiplayer other than face a swarm of alien creatures in death maze that can feel as scary as it looks to those who are stealth players. If you take your time you get swarmed every so often and the waves don’t really seem to stop until you clear the current room. But that doesn’t stop them from coming out of the walls, floors, and ceiling to quickly surround and wreck shop on your face if you aren’t paying attention.

From what I’ve gathered through quick runs through the game and speed reading you take on the role of a Librarian. Only instead of playing with a room full of books you play with some specialized death dealing weapons and your armor, is a mech suit that helps you shit bricks all over the Space Hulk.

While these aren’t your typical aliens and probably not even aliens but some genetic mutations gone horribly wrong you face them in hordes. Your typical Genestealer is going to be pretty much the bulk of your fights while the Genestealer Hybrids and the different strains of Genestealers like the Warriors, Stalkers, Scythes, and Strains will mix and match randomly to give the game a bit more kick and flair. These are all pretty much easy enough to plow through if you can keep them in a bottleneck and prevent them from surrounding you. If you add the Broodlord to the mix. Your best bet is to run like a little girl because that bad boy will rip into your armor like it’s a can of tuna.

While the fights can get interesting at times and the mix and match of the objectives plus the swarm of hell upon you can keep you entertained. This is nothing compared to the world you’re running through. The places you’re running around in are freakin’ mazes. Unless you’re paying attention to your map it is extremely easy to get lost and lose your bearings due to the random combat and ass beatings you’re dishing out.

Now if you are like me you want to jump into the multiplayer and get a feel of the game with some people you can play with and trust to have your back when you need it. And now that we pretty much covered the general game and multiplayer let’s cover a little bit on the campaign. There is a nice little story behind single player and you will see some things that kind of threw me when I first saw it. One being the floating skulls and spinal cords hovering around and doing mechanical work. Now I didn’t dig into this to much but from what I’ve seen thus far everyone is either dead and computerized or we just did some serious terminator type shit. Either way as you go through the single player game you find yourself commanding your team instead of playing with basic AI that does what it wants when it wants. Now I don’t mean that it’s only going to attack when you do but this game reminds me of old school rainbow six. Give minor commands to your team through a popup pin wheel to help you advance in the game. This can be defend, attack, lock/unlock a door, HEAL ME, etc.

While this is useful in single player I honestly wasn’t to impressed with how the AI handled under pressure. It’s really kind of dumb. Instead of keeping a little distance and fighting close up these things go out and get ripped up leaving you to play Cpt. Save-a-Hoe. While the AI sucks and the AI handling is finicky at best I find it refreshing to see some old mechanics put in new games. Just because the old shit is dead and gone doesn’t mean we can’t learn a thing or two from them.

Speaking of mazes. Did I forget to mention that this was built with Unreal Engine 4? Seriously, if you stop for a moment (If you have a moment between getting your ass kicked and kicking ass.) and look around the world around you it’s just stunning… at times. With the entirety of the map design and the ambient noises and detail to things like dripping pipes and destructible doors and walls this game has a pretty amazing map design and layout. After playing through and wrecking shop for several hours I decided to put things on little girl mode and explore the maps a little more and take a real look around. I recommend anyone that’s interested in map layouts to do the same. There are a few glitchy bits here and there but overall I think you will be as impressed as I was.

Thank you for sharing your review on this game. It doesn’t sound interesting to me too. Glad that I have read this.

Sounds too convoluted for me (the game, not the review). The trailer didn’t interest me a bit.

The graphics are impressive and the trailer is amazing to watch. Watching the trailer reminds me of a mixture of Transformers and the aliens. Very realistic. Good review.

Mindless fun for hardcore gamers but I don’t recommend it to casual players who are too jumpy or queasy.

The lack of plot takes a lot from a very promising game. I mean, it’d be absolutely fun exploring a mysterious storyline with all those confusing mazes. I’d give this a try, though, just for the heck of it! LOL >:)

I’ve never heard of this game before, it looks like it uses the Unreal engine maybe. Would probably give it a try when it comes out if i have the funds.

I was reading the whole review and then scroll down to check the design. It is superb. For sure if I will be the one playing, i will appreciate it more. I like to play this in the future, though I am not good with mazes.

Glad you all like the review! The game is pretty fun if you like alien filled mazes of doom. If you want a challenge play this with random people. If you want some fun and just goof off play with some friends. Throw back a beer and just blow shit up!
